Overview

EDUTrack is more than just a student management system; it’s a comprehensive data platform designed to streamline administrative and academic record-keeping at a university level. This project was a major exercise in combining rapid development tools with powerful database services to achieve real-time, scalable performance.

The Technical Challenge: Real-time Data

The primary challenge was handling the complex relational data of student records, course history, and faculty information in a real-time environment.

We chose Firebase for its powerful NoSQL database and authentication services. This allowed us to:

  1. Rapidly prototype the backend without managing traditional servers.
  2. Provide real-time updates for faculty to view student progress instantly.
  3. Implement robust, role-based authentication for students, faculty, and administration.

Frontend with React and Tailwind

The frontend was built with React and Vite for a fast, modular, and modern development workflow. Tailwind CSS was essential for quickly building a clean, responsive, and data-dense user interface that is intuitive for university staff and students.

Key Features

  • Secure User Roles: Separate dashboards and permissions for various user types.
  • Course Management: Dynamic creation, enrollment, and grade-tracking features.
  • Performance Optimization: Utilizing state-of-the-art bundling and lazy loading to ensure the application remains fast even with thousands of records.

This project was a crucial step in understanding the demands of enterprise-level software design within an academic context.
